Walls....Inside and Out

Casey 2010-01-09 07:33

I am new to floor planner and I wanted to know if there was a way to add siding to the outside of my house and paint the walls on the inside. Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks 2010-01-09 08:13

No, sidings not yet. There is a workaround for getting colored walls though: see this plan I used the black square from the structural category, scaled and colored it so it covers a wall or parts of it.

hope it’s enough

Thanks for the suggestion regarding coloring walls…unfortunately, this only works for rectangular walls. If you have a design with sloped ceilings, this work-around doesn’t solve the problem. 2010-01-14 09:56

true, I can’t really think of a solution for this at the moment… 2010-01-14 11:34

Forget that last comment:
there is a way :) check out this plan

It is even more complicated but not impossible. what you do is: draw a rectangular surface next to the sloped wall (2nd icon of construction menu), just as long as the wall and with a random width.
Then click the surface to give it the desired color.
Then click the points closest to the wall and set the elevation to the height of the wall corners. The other 2 remain on the floor.
Then zoom in, drag the high cornerpoints close to the wall, and the line between the other to as close as possible to the wall without having it snap to the other line.

check it in 3D. if you get strange triangles it’s probably too close to the wall or another surface.

get it?
