import plans from pdf

missxander 2009-01-04 15:53

I feel like this might be a dumb question but i can’t figure out how to bring my plans into my project. I have pdf floor plans that i’d like to start with – the tutorial says “learn how to import or start from scratch” I took the tutorial and it seemed like all it covered was how to start from scratch. thanks!

Hi Miss Xander,
Thanks for the post; we’ll put adding this page on our list; You can’t upload a pdf as a background. You can use a jpg png, or swf, so I would recommend to make a screenshot of the pdf’s and save them first as a jpg or png. Or export them from some program as a jpg or png image.
Have you done this, click the rightmost icon in the construction menu. a Drawing Properties Menu should pop up from which you can browse for your image on your computer. Each floor can have 1 background image, every design in this floor will have this background to trace.
You can change the scale, rotation, transparency and visiblity of this image in the same menu.

hope this helps you out!

When we will be able to import existing projects to floorplanner?

One note to add to the team’s response: you will only see the Drawing Properties icon in the construction menu if you’ve created an account. It’s not there if you just start creating a floorplan before making an account.
